Statement of Faith
1. WE BELIEVE the Holy Scriptures are the inspired and infallible Word of God.
(2 Timothy 3:15-17)
2. WE BELIEVE in one God, eternally existent and revealed in three persons:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 29:19; Mark 12:29)
3. WE BELIEVE in the virgin birth of Christ, His atoning death, bodily resurrection and Ascension to the right hand of God.
(Isaiah 7:14; Romans 8:34; Acts 1:10)
4. WE BELIEVE mankind who was originally created good, willingly fell into sin –
bringing the sentence of death both physically and spiritually into the world.
(Genesis 1:26, 27; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:6; Romans 5:12-19)
5. WE BELIEVE that it is God’s will and desire that every person be restored to Him through Salvation. Man’s only hope of redemption is through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. There is no other way by which mankind can be saved except through Christ. Anyone can receive salvation by confessing their sins to God, repenting from sin (turning from sin) and believing in Christ, making Him Lord of their lives.
(Luke 24:47; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11; Titus 3:5,7; John 14:6; Luke 9:23)
6. WE BELIEVE in two ordinances for the believer.
1.) Water Baptism by Immersion after receiving God’s gift of Salvation.
(Matthew 29:19)
2.) Holy Communion (the Lord’s supper) in remembrance of His death,
till He comes.
(1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
7. WE BELIEVE in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit following salvation is for anyone who asks. We believe this gift empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. We believe that the initial physical evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is “speaking in tongues,” as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles. We also believe in and demonstrate the orderly operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to scripture.
(1 Corinthians 12:1-31; 1 Corinthians 14:39, 40; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4; Acts 1:8; Acts 12:1-31; Acts 8:12-17)
According to scripture this experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth.
(Acts 8:12-17; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 11:14-16; Acts 15:7-9)
8. WE BELIEVE sanctification Initially Occurs at Salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christlike.
(Romans 12:1, 2; Romans 6:1-11; Romans 6:13; Philippians 2:12, 13; 1 Peter 1:5)
9. WE BELIEVE and continue to experience the divine healing of the sick. At REVIVAL LIGHT CHURCH We believe that healing and deliverance, as well as salvation, was already provided for us by the atoning death of Jesus Christ on the cross.
(Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:16, 17; James 5:14-16)
10. WE BELIEVE in the eternal punishment of the unbeliever in hell and the eternal life of the believer in heaven.
(Matthew 25:46; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-10; Revelation 20:11-15; John 14:1-3)
11. WE BELIEVE in the visible, bodily return of Christ to this earth to judge the world and to claim His Bride, The Church.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 1:7)
12. WE BELIEVE that all believers should assemble in local churches for mutual edification, encouragement, evangelism, discipleship, service and worship.
(Hebrews 10:24, 25; Acts 14:21-27; Ephesians 4:1-16)
